The court extended the preventive measure for four defendants in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case

On July 11, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don extended the term of detention for defendants in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case, Zavur Abdullayev, Dzhebbar Bekirov, Rustem Murasov and Rustem Tairov. It is reported by "Crimean solidarity".

The defendants will remain in jail for at least another three months.

On August 17, 2021, security forces conducted mass searches in the homes of Crimean Tatars, during which they detained five people - Rustem Murasov, Rustem Tairov, Dzhebbar Bekirov, Zavur Abdullayev and Imam Raif Fevziev. All of them are in custody. Bekirov and Fevziev are accused of organizing the activities of a terrorist organization (part 1 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code), and the others of participating in it (part 2 of article 205.5 of the Criminal Code).

In January 2022, a criminal case was also opened against all five of them for preparing to seize power (Article 278 of the Criminal Code with the application of Part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code). Fevziev's case is being considered separately, he has already been taken to court .

• The Islamist party Hizb ut-Tahrir has been recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia. Its participants are accused and sentenced to real terms only on the basis that they met in apartments, read religious literature and recruited new participants. According to the Information and Analytical Center "Sova", the party is recognized as terrorist in Russia unlawfully.
• According to the HRC Memorial, as of March 22, 2022, at least 340 people are being persecuted in connection with involvement with Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami. Of these, at least 231 people were convicted, and 176 of them were sentenced to terms of more than ten years in prison. Most of the defendants - 94 people - are from the Crimea and Sevastopol. Tatarstan is in second place: at least 81 people from this region are being persecuted in connection with involvement in Hizb ut-Tahrir. In third place is Bashkiria (53 defendants).
