On July 18, by the building of the Syktyvkar administration, the police detained a researcher at the Darwin Reserve of the Vologda Oblast Dmitry Sadokov due to a picket in defense of his convicted colleagues from the Kronotsky Reserve in Kamchatka. Sadokov was released without a protocol.

Komersant writes that in 2015, as part of the federal program, the state allocated funds for the elimination of environmental damage. The tender for work was won by Ecology. In 2016, the leadership of the reserve reported that more than a thousand tons of garbage and barrels with the remnants of fuel and lubricants were taken out of the territory.

A year later, the director of Ecology, Vitaliy Drozda, was detained on suspicion of extortion and fraud due to an episode not related to the Kronotsky Reserve. Then the businessman made a deal with the investigation and stated that he participated in the embezzlement of funds intended for work in the reserve.

The investigation came to the conclusion that the “ecology” won the tender illegally, and the cost of waste removal was overpriced several times. In addition, the investigation believes that a significant part of the garbage was buried in the reserve. The deputy director of the reserve Alexander Ilyin also made a deal and testified against colleagues. Drozd and Ilyin received conditional terms under the article on the theft of someone else's property (part 4 of article 160 of the Criminal Code).

Other employees of the reserve: the head of the scientific department of Daria Panicheva, the deputy director of the reserve for science and tourism Roman Korchigin, the deputy director of finance Oksana Terekhrva and the deputy director of general issues Nikolai Pozdnyakov - received real terms.

The lawyer of one of the convicts claims that "the court fully investigated the evidence in the case, and among them there is absolutely no reliable and permissible evidence confirming guilt."
