Rosfinmonitoring added Cheboksary activist and former teacher Elena Blinova to the list of terrorists and extremists, according to the department’s website.
Blinova told “Idel. Realii” that she learned about the authorities’ decision when she received a notice from the bank about restricting banking operations at the request of Rosfinmonitoring.
On December 29, 2021, security forces came to the activist’s apartment with a search . Blinova was taken away for interrogation and charged with participation in the activities of the Artpodgotovka movement, banned in Russia (Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code). She was released on her own recognizance.
The reason for initiating a criminal case was two protocols under the article on the dissemination of extremist materials (Article 20.29 of the Administrative Code) due to the publication of photographs in which Blinova shows with her fingers a “tick” - a symbol of the Artpodgotovka movement. The first was compiled in 2019, the second in 2021.
In addition, the activist was tried twice under the same article on the distribution of extremist materials in April 2017 for reposting a picture of deputy Vitaly Milonov wearing a T-shirt with the slogan “Orthodoxy or Death” banned in Russia and distributing Easter eggs with the inscription “Freedom for Maltsev.” At the same time, Blinova lost her job as a kindergarten teacher.
