Former Yeralash director Ilya Belostotsky sentenced to 14 years in prison for sexual assault against a teenager

The Solntsevsky District Court of Moscow sentenced former Yeralash director Ilya Belostotsky to 14 years in a maximum security penal colony for sexual abuse of a minor. This was reported by the Moscow prosecutor's office.

As Kommersant notes , the court hearing was held behind closed doors; it is unknown whether the convicted man admitted guilt.

Belostotsky was arrested in October 2020 on charges of sexual intercourse with a minor. During the investigation, the director was charged under the article on indecent acts against a teenager.

As a result, the court found Belostotsky guilty under paragraph “b” of Part 4 of Article 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (other acts of a sexual nature committed against a person under the age of fourteen).

According to the prosecutor's office, in November 2018, the director committed sexual acts against a boy he knew in his Moscow apartment.

• Ilya Belostotsky is a director, screenwriter, and producer. Member of the Guild of Film Directors of Russia since 2004. In 2017, he was one of the directors of the film "Yeralash v Kino".
• The anonymous Telegram channel "112" claimed that child pornography was found in Belostotsky's home. The Telegram channel "Beware, News" reported that one of the witnesses spoke of "an entire collection of child pornography" in the director's home, and that investigators found photographs and videos of naked children during a search.
• According to media reports , from 2020 to 2021, Belostotsky's relatives hid the director's whereabouts and said that he was seriously ill and could not get in touch.
