Turkey announced that an agreement on grain exports from Ukraine will be signed on July 22

An agreement on the creation of a corridor for the export of grain from Ukraine will be signed on July 22 in Istanbul. This was reported by TASS, the administration of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The document signing ceremony will begin at 16:30 local time (coincides with Moscow time) in the Dolmabahce Palace. It will be attended by representatives of Ukraine, Russia, Erdogan and UN Secretary General António Guterres.

Guterres' office confirmed that the UN Secretary General will fly to Turkey on July 22. At the same time, according to the deputy official representative of the organization Farhan Haq, the UN is not completely sure that the agreement will be concluded.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said that the country's delegation will support only those decisions that guarantee the security of the southern regions of Ukraine, the strong position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Black Sea and the safe export of Ukrainian agricultural products.

Earlier, Erdogan said that a memorandum on grain could be signed at a meeting of delegations from Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the UN this week, and the United Nations plan for the export of grain would begin to be implemented in the coming days.

• Ukraine is one of the world's largest grain suppliers. After the invasion, Russia seized or blocked the Black Sea ports through which Ukraine exported most of its food. This threatens the whole world with famine, the UN said.
• On July 13, Ukraine and Russia began negotiations on the export of Ukrainian grain through the mediation of the UN and Turkey. Following the meeting in Istanbul, Ankara reported, the parties managed to agree on the main technical issues, including joint control at points of departure and destination and ensuring the safety of navigation on transportation routes.
• According to The Wall Street Journal, grain is planned to be exported from three Ukrainian ports along certain corridors, for which Ukraine partially clears the Black Sea from mines. A ceasefire will be in effect in the areas of these corridors.
