Google blocked in Kherson region

In the Kherson region, almost all of whose territory is controlled by Russian troops, access to Google has been blocked. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing a statement by the deputy head of the temporary pro-Russian administration, Kirill Stremousov.

"At my request, the Google search engine has been disabled, the same with YouTube and Viber. The search engine has been blocked," Stremousov said.

According to Stremousov, the reasons for the blocking were “the use of these social networks as elements of information terrorism by the Ukrainian authorities and their American curators, as malicious information dumps.”

• In early July, YouTube, Instagram and Viber were blocked in the Kherson region. The Russian-appointed authorities stated that their activities were “aimed at destabilizing the situation in our region.”
• On July 21, Google was blocked in the LPR. The head of the self-proclaimed republic, Leonid Pasechnik, stated that the company “is conducting targeted propaganda of terrorism and extremism.” The next day, Google was blocked in the DPR.
