Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the exit from the country's citizenship of the biathlete Lydia Zhurauskay. In the fall of 2021, a native of Murmansk announced the desire to represent the Lithuanian team at the 2026 Olympic Games, writes RBC.

After the appropriate announcement of the athlete, the President of the Biathlon of Lithuania Arunas Daugirdas said that in order to receive the Lithuanian passport, Zhurauskite must be abandoned by the Russian one.

Zhurauskaite will receive Lithuanian citizenship under the recovery program: her great -grandfather was a Lithuanian. The biathlete has been training with the country's team for a year.

• In May of this year, Russian hockey player Ivan Fedotov signed a contract with the Philadelphia Flyers club. The athlete was supposed to fly to the United States for one year, but on July 1 he was detained on the outskirts of St. Petersburg .
