Roman Chernikov, 43 years old, Novosibirsk
Almost all my life I have worked in the oil and gas industry. When [due to health problems] had to leave there, the spouse just got a job at Wildberries warehouse. The conditions were good - the schedule is two in two, if you take night shifts, it came out from 70 thousand [rubles per month] and above. For Novosibirsk , very good .
My friend also turned out to be one of the elders (he worked for a long time in the company and received a promotion to the manager). [With his help] I handed the documents to the personnel department, received a robe, trained for two or three days-and that’s all, was replaced by the sorter.
The warehouse employees accept the goods, distribute it in the warehouse, check it before sending and packaged. There are five main roles in the warehouse.
The receiver - checks the goods from the supplier to make sure that the right amount of goods was brought to the warehouse, that it is of good quality and in the correct configuration.
Transporter - delivers the goods to the right place in a storage warehouse.
Sorter - distributes the goods in a warehouse by shelves.
The packager - after placing the order by the client, collects the necessary goods from the shelves and packs the parcel, passes it to the loaders , and then to delivery. The roles of employees may change at the discretion of the authorities.
[Work in the warehouse is understandable]. Yes, it happens that newcomers make all sorts of nonsense, do not understand that everything [every type of product] in the warehouse has their own row and place: books need to be laid out with books, and rags with rags. They are embarrassed to ask and begin, for example, to where the dishes lies, to unload pencils and lipsticks. Then they, of course, are forced to collect everything and carry everything to another place.
But if you are not stupid, you are in a week, you will begin to "taste" what, where and how. Some [colleagues] love to help - specially leave their phone numbers. These are called "help."
Therefore, the majority is quickly mastered. Moreover, everyone needs money, and [at such work] it can be earned. After all, the salary consists, roughly speaking, from each “peak” . There used to be a “watch” (a fixed hourly payment), they were canceled - and now you are driving and weaving. People who take additional shifts receive 100-120 thousand rubles.
The main thing is to do what they say to you, and do not bother with the elders. There are those who speak through the lip: “Hey, you ...” - in the tone that you are a slave and insignificance, and they are your owners. So if you show your teeth, they will eat you yourself. There were cases when [due to conflicts] girls were specially transferred to the assembly, where it was necessary to carry severity, run with carts-it is clear that after this they simply quit. If the elder does not like something, he can easily send you to the “general cleaning”. And you will have to fight the floors all day, and you pay for you to work with the goods-therefore [on such a day] you will not earn anything.
To the personnel department is also questions - where do they even look? People are collected [without looking, and then, if a person] did not like it - there is a way out. The turnover is large, because not everyone takes out. A woman comes over 50 and weighs another 120 kilogram. Well, which of her is the employee, in the same place [in the warehouse] you have to move. Such immediately begin: "I'm tired, I can’t."
All kinds of people work - and “master” (people who have served time in prison - approx. “Medus”) , and drug addicts (drug addicts or drug users - approx. “Medusa”) . They take everyone in a row. Of course, [some] will steal. It happened that iPhones left 12 pieces at a time. The police came. I know that in Moscow, in large warehouses, they generally undress to panties during the inspection after the shift. We do not have this in Novosibirsk yet. So they pull-who will hide something in socks, who in his underpants.
But the most unpleasant and unfair [at this work] is fines. For example, they brought the shampoo to the buyer in winter, and several bottles burst from the cold. Or, during delivery, an expensive TV crashed. According to the internal rules, they are fined the “last hand”, that is, the one who touched the product last. My wife is a packer, just engaged in this, collects the goods in boxes. But there are many factors: maybe the movers threw these boxes, and the packaging was damaged and something burst inside. But if my wife laid the goods in the box, they will finish it. The one who “picked” the latter is to blame.
I had small fines only because I mainly worked as a sorter. And there, according to the little things: the hairpin will fall out or some banks will be missing. But the wife, sometimes, cries with resentment, when she is fined for 10 and 12 thousand [rubles] in a day.
Many are leaving due to these fines. Imagine: you work for a month, have earned 30 thousand [rubles], and you have been hanged 50 thousand [rubles]. He worked, worked, and also had to remain. We have one employee of the expensive gold chain threw the wrong way: she had to leave for Novokuznetsk, and left for Kemerovo. As a result, she officially “bought it” [paid a fine at the full cost], but in fact she did not even hold in her hands. And no one thinks that a person worked for a month, and he was taken away from his entire salary.
Especially now, when the "military operation" is ongoing, it will still afford to hit people. Already prices jumped up for household appliances, components, spare parts. Everything has risen in price, and we have to squeeze our teeth and endure. Because against us the whole world, one might say, has taken up arms. True, my opinion is that this is all not for long. If we block oil and gas, they [Europeans] will cure.
There are changes in Wildberries after the start of the “special operation”. I don’t know whether it coincided or not, but employees were completely banned from carrying phones to the warehouse. Maybe because of the video (we are talking about the video in which the employees are forced to undress on the passing, approx. "Medusa") , or maybe just another way to combat theft. Everyone just understands that because of the war people will try to steal more.
Now through Wildberries there are things that fall under sanctions . But at the work of the company this did not affect. About two years ago, when there was a bonus system in Wildberries, we could buy goods with a discount “for our own”. If it were canceled, I would probably myself began to buy a sanctions equipment to sell more extensively, but now there are no discounts. So, workers do not win anything from this.
Even because of the war, people are more afraid to lose their jobs. They hold on to their place, because it is still unknown what will happen there. Well, they move more, because they understand that money is now needed [especially]. Many products are now more expensive . The only way out is to earn more, which means to run and move more.
In December 2021, they found a spinal hernia. I could not work and had to quit, but would have continued. Good salary, feed normally. True, sick leave is not paid now. Previously, they worked “officially” (arranged in the state under an employment contract), and from last year - only under a contract for the provision of services. This is neither a vacation nor a sick leave - nothing. And the work is mobile - many have health problems.

I chose the company, simply because the work was 50 meters from the house. We had people who worked without weekends and received 100 thousand [rubles], but I am not a big “specialist” to run along the floors, and I went around 40 thousand per month [rubles].
Personally, I did not have large fines, but others [for errors] were deprived of the entire salary immediately. It was hard for me to endure the relationship of senior employees. They communicate with you as with the essence of the lower caste. The senior shift has no mood? Everyone will have to do badly. Or you ask a question, but a person passes by and does not even look in your direction.
It was especially inferior that a regular storekeeper works with you, you communicate normally. But as soon as he was raised, so he immediately turns his nose from you, answers down: “I said to do this,” “I don’t like it, quit.”
There is still a lot of talk about theft. Yes, they were. I personally know those who stole. They carried out the running goods or simply took the box and dragged, knowing that there could be [goods] for 200-300 thousand rubles. Because of such personalities, in a warehouse, both girls and boys are stripped to panties. This is humiliating and prohibited by law , but there seems to be not theft now.
To be honest, employees themselves are often good. Spanningly refer to the product. There was a case when in our warehouse they caught the company of children who on the guts ate products from the boxes [who were supposed to be transferred to delivery]. The loader is coming, it can kick the box with the goods, simply because he was too lazy to raise his leg. If the eldest sees this, then immediately dismissal. And how many such cases did no one noticed? Therefore, it is strange to be surprised if dented, dirty and focused reach the buyer.
But the work, of course, is hard. Overwork is the norm. People used to faint from fatigue. But they themselves are partly to blame: they rush from the first on the fifth floor, do not rest, they just want to earn [more] money, and at the exit they get only health problems.
At the same time, there are almost no problems with payments. The salary with me was delayed only once. And then they did everything adequately: they warned that there would be a delay, and then the salary fell along with compensation [for delay days]. It seems to me, if you were different, people would have raised a rebellion.
At the end of 2020, when I was tired of all this, I went to work in Pyaterochka. True, now I work in the warehouse again, but in another marketplace. Before the war there were many orders, the salaries were good, and how the “special operation” began, that we have, that there is only one situation in Wildberries [according to friends] - the goods are not entered, employees go into a simple one. Probably, people have no money - and they began to order fewer goods. Don't know. But not everyone succeeds in making money in marketplaces.
But I do not plan to quit yet. I just take additional shifts. With the economy in our country, it is always the same situation: everything is bad. That there are sanctions, what is not.
Anton (name changed), 19 years old, Kazan
This is my first official place of work. I used to earn little things: a loader, a handyman. You can say Kalymil. I do not leave here [from Wildberries], simply because there is a constant earnings. And where else to go is not clear.
After the video [which laid out Baza] there was a lot of noise around the inspections - when they forced to turn off her underpants, insoles and shake the sneakers. But I [inspection] does not hesitate at all. I understand that it is necessary. And then we have such personalities that theft will flourish. They take everyone in a row, there is no system of inspections at all.
Hence, there are no relations with colleagues. There are so many people that work is not enough for everyone and begins [the struggle for goods] . Especially if the tariff for the goods increases and it costs not two rubles, but six rubles per “peak” with a scanner. Near this product there will already be not only a queue or a chubby, there the fights begin. Scandals every day and a day in a day. People are evil, everyone wants to eat. And it would be okay when the men are gnawing at each other. But there is an adult woman, then a man flies up to her and shoves her, rudely, straight with force. And what can a woman do? Just cry and step aside. And after the outbreak of war, people became even angrier. There is not enough money.
The work itself is hard. Not everyone can stand it. People earn themselves and a hernia, and the cones on their hands from the constant lifting of weights. Try to wait all day on your feet. If you sit down, a fine. A guy worked with me, he did not go out once on his shift, then he had a fight with the elder because he began to look behind him and a little that-a fine, a fine, a fine. So it turned out that all 20-40 thousand [rubles] earned in a month, and the guy has minus 20 thousand [rubles]. And whatever you want, then do it - this is not the problem of the company. Although I just don't understand how to work and ultimately remain without money. What is this - slavery or mockery?
I know that abroad - in the same states or in Germany, for example, if the company violates the rights of an employee, all this ends with a scandal and payments in favor of an employee. It doesn't work for us. I don't know why. Probably because we have each for themselves, people do not know how to act together and protect their rights.
When I got settled [in Wildberries], I tried to complain to the elder about violating my rights and appealing my fines. But they told me directly that if I “continue to whine” or go with this claim somewhere further, I will not work here. I calmed down and forgot about justice.
And if our team were friendly, if we stood for each other, then the authorities would not have a choice. We would have become a force with which we would have to reckon. But this will not happen until there is such a competition in the warehouse. Who knows, maybe it is generally specially created so that people do not unite into trade unions, as in the States.

I have no higher education. She graduated from the technical school, studied more for the checkmark, because the parents wanted to. And in order to get a job in any office, you need a diploma. Therefore, in my work experience - a factory, a factory and a factory again. After them, work in Wildberries did not seem particularly dusty. You can adopt - there would be a desire.
Yes, the system of fines simply puts in a stupor. You can not get anything [salary], and even stay with debts. But such cases are more likely to be a rarity. I had the largest fine of 10 thousand [rubles] - I packaged the bag of the wrong brand. I survived, you just have to be more careful. The fines do not come from the ceiling, although it is a shame to receive them and even seems to be unfair. Then you calm down and understand that no one, as in my case, forced me to confuse my bags. There is only one secret: no need to soak in the clouds.
What is really unpleasant is inspections. Before the guard to the underwear, it is inconvenient to undress. But we understand why this is being done. While this rule has not been introduced this summer, I heard that [in the warehouse] stole a lot. But who exactly did this, I did not delve into.
Of course, I heard that in the USA, if workers do not suit working conditions, they are united into trade unions. But here you are not America, we will not work for us. As the authorities argue: "I do not like the conditions - go to the exit, in your place it is already worth the turn."
And this applies not only to Wildberries, at any work. People tolerate, because you can’t prove anything to anyone anyway. Go to court? Yes, this does not work, it seems to me. You will spend money on a lawyer, time and effort to prove that you are not a camel. But in the end it turns out that you are a camel. Or they will be awarded [conditional] 500 rubles of compensation, and you will spend 500 thousand on lawyers [rubles]. I exaggerate, of course, but everything looks like that.
Fight with such a large company as Wildberries is all the more expensive. If they can write out such large fines, can you imagine what opportunities they have to teach the employee who will oppose them? In addition, we have tolerant conditions, personally, it really suits me. There are places and worse.
Our team is good, we are friends with the girls. With jokes and conversations, the working day passes quickly. The elders are also adequate, with understanding of everything. Our girls constantly go on maternity leave and get half of the salary - and everyone treats it normally. So this work so far suits me. Where else with a 2/2 graph will now receive a normal salary?
After the start of the invasion of Ukraine, there was only conversations that about the war. Everyone suddenly turned into military experts and specialists in Ukraine. Tired, to be honest. I didn’t notice something to change. Probably, these are enemies to make us live worse. No, we still live, everything is as before. I do not understand politics, sanctions - some say one, others. Fakes and so much noise everywhere. Everyone is trying to prove that he is right. I just feel sorry for the boys who die there. And I do not understand: was it really impossible to decide on the world, to agree?
Medusa sent a request to the press service of Wildberries, but at the time of publication did not receive an answer.
