Human rights activist Andrey Ivashev from Syktyvkar said that he was being held in harsh conditions in SIZO-1 of the Komi Republic (Verkhniy Chov village). About this writes "7 × 7 - Horizontal Russia" with reference to the page of the local municipal deputy Sergei Belikov.
The appeal, which was compiled by Belikov's assistant, says that Ivashev is being kept in a cold basement with a broken window opening - because of this, insects constantly fly in there, the light in the cell is noisy and the light is constantly on. In the appeal, Belikov's assistant asks the head of Komi, Vladimir Uiba, to check the conditions of detention of citizens in the pre-trial detention center.
According to information published in the Public Assembly of the Republic of Komi group, Lyudmila Sukach-Pokamestova, secretary of the public council at the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs, said that the local PMC checked the conditions of Ivashev's detention and found no violations.
Human rights activist Ivashev is charged under articles on public calls for extremism on the Internet (part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code), incitement of hatred (article 282 of the Criminal Code) and contempt of court (article 297 of the Criminal Code).
In December 2021, his apartment was searched in connection with charges under articles of inciting hostility and contempt of court. The case of contempt of court was initiated due to the fact that Ivashev, according to the investigation, rudely communicated with the judge at a meeting in which he represented the interests of a woman with a disability. In connection with what episodes a case of incitement of hostility was opened, it was not reported.
The case of incitement to extremism on the Internet against the activist was initiated in February 2022. Investigators decided that Ivashev called for the assassination of Komi leader Vladimir Uyba, based on three comments the activist allegedly left on social media in 2020.
Ivashev was arrested in March 2022 - after he came to the UK to get permission from the investigator to travel to Kirov, where he was supposed to have an operation. He has not yet had an operation. Ivashev has a disability associated with a disease of the spine.
