The St. Petersburg court increased the activist's compensation for illegal detention 20 times

The St. Petersburg City Court increased the amount of compensation for activist Lela Nordik for illegal detention to 20 thousand rubles. This was reported by the head of Agora, Pavel Chikov.

Initially, the Smolninsky District Court decided to pay Nordik one thousand rubles, but she challenged this decision.

On April 21, 2021, the girl was detained by police officers. They did not introduce themselves or explain to her the reason for the detention. A protocol was drawn up against Nordik under an article about the organizer’s violation of the rules of holding a protest action (Part 1 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offences). The girl spent the night in police department No. 12.

On April 22, Nordik was found guilty and fined 10 thousand rubles. After an appeal, the decision on the fine was canceled and the case was dropped due to lack of proof of the circumstances, so the activist demanded compensation for moral damages from the security forces.

• On April 21, 2021, protests took place throughout Russia demanding that civilian doctors be allowed into the colony to see politician Alexei Navalny. According to OVD-Info, 2,246 people were detained that day in connection with the protests, 891 people in St. Petersburg.
• In March, Lelya Nordikreceived the status of a suspect in a criminal case of telephone terrorism (Article 207 of the Criminal Code). According to investigators, unknown persons called the 77th police department of St. Petersburg on March 1 and said that the department was mined. In connection with this case, searches were carried out at Nordik and other St. Petersburg activists. The activists have not yet been charged.
