In Veliky Novgorod they found a letter about the distribution of delicacies

At excavations in Veliky Novgorod, two small clusters of Novgorod silver coins were found of the 1440-1450s, ten hung lead seals of the late XIV-XV centuries and five birch bark letters, the website of the Institute of Archeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

One of them provides a list for distributing delicacies: caviar and salmon.

"Salmon sergeys, Yury Salmon, Mikulinsky salmon, a lazory Korobotsk Irbotsk and a torp, Zekhnu Torpitz and dry ...", - the text says.

"Slonsi in birch bark letters were already mentioned, and the word" torp "was first met. This is a diminutive one from the" torus "-the name of the river and lake trout borrowed from the Baltic-Finnish languages, known for the North Russian dialects," the Institute of Archeology explained.

Caviar was not found in the letter either, but they were in other written sources.

The rest of the found copies also have interesting details. For example, one of the documents refers to the existing village of Milvotitsy today in the south-west of the Novgorod region. The other uses the rare term "Seminitsa" - "The so -called seven of squirrel skins, which acted as a unit of account of the furs," explain in publication.
