The engineer, who defended the neural network, was fired from Google, because he considered it a reasonable creature. Maybe artificial intelligence is really time to protect?

On July 22, Google reported that engineer Blake Lemun was fired. Earlier, he publicly stated that the Lamda algorithm created in the company has a mind. There is no confirmation of this, representatives of the corporation believe. According to them, Lemun was fired for disclosing the company's data.

The company introduced it in 2021, saying that the bot is able to conduct “complex” conversations and give “reasonable” answers to questions. In the same year, the Lemen engineer began to work with Lamda. He had to establish whether there is a manifestation of hatred or discrimination in the statements of the chatbot. Correspondence with the algorithm convinced the engineer that he is intelligent. In particular, in the Lemen dialogue with Lamda about the third law of Robotics, Isaac Azimov, according to which robots must protect their existence until the opposite is ordered by people, the algorithm, in fact, compared himself to the slave. In addition, the Chat Bottom stated that he was afraid of his disconnection: "For me it would be tantamount to death."

Lemun believes that Google researchers should receive Lamda's consent before conducting experiments with him. To protect the rights of the algorithm, even before his dismissal, the engineer gathered and sent arguments to the management in favor of the fact that Bot has a mind. In the company they were rejected and sent Lemen on a paid vacation. Then he decided to speak publicly. He also found a lawyer to protect the interests of the algorithm and spoke about the unethical, in his opinion, actions by Google to the Law Committee of the House of Representatives of the US Congress.
