Novgorod: the head of the "Yabloko" was canceled a penalty for "discrediting"

In Veliky Novgorod, the Court of Appeal terminated the case of discrediting the Russian army against the head of the regional branch of Yabloko Viktor Shalyakin. This was reported by a colleague of politician Anna Cherepanova. In May, he was fined 45 thousand rubles because of a video about the Afghan war.

Shalyakin, being a veteran of the Armed Forces of Russia, published a video in VKontakte, in which he shared his memories of participation in the Afghan war and salvation of refugees from the Shiraki military base in Georgia. On the record, the politician condemned any military operations.

Linguistic examination confirmed that it was a video about events that were not related to war in Ukraine. Nevertheless, the court found Shalyakin guilty and appointed a fine.

Since the beginning of the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, Shalyakin has been attracted to administrative responsibility for the first time. In the spring, it was drawn up by protocols under articles on petty hooliganism and the spread of illegal agitation. On March 30, Shalyakin stuck posters in support of the candidate from Yabloko Ksenia Cherepanova (she is the twin sister of Anna, participated in the missiles in one of the city districts). On the posters it was printed: "Cherepanova for the world!" One of the inhabitants of the city was outraged by the arrangement of materials and began to tear off the leaflets of the "Yabloko". Shalyakin tried to stop her. She fell, and the unknown person attacked and beat on Shalyakin.

In the case of hooliganism, the veteran was fined 50 thousand rubles, the court of appeal upheld this decision. According to the article on the spread of Chaliakin’s campaigning, five thousand rubles were fined. The politician achieved the abolition of this decision.
