Grigory Gribenko, head of the Irkutsk branch of Yabloko, Pavel Kharitonenko, founder of the New Russia – Free Country movement, and human rights activist Valery Teterin filed an application with the mayor’s office for a protest against the articles of the criminal and administrative codes about “fake” about the army and about “discrediting” the army.
“The law enforcement practice of the last few months has clearly demonstrated that these articles are in conflict with the Constitution of the Russian Federation, especially its Article 29, which guarantees everyone freedom of thought and speech and prohibits censorship,” the appeal says.
The rally is scheduled for August 20, the application has been submitted for 200 people. The organizers have not yet announced the location of the event.
