The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of Ukraine suspected former Defense Minister Mikhail Yezhel of treason because of the so-called Kharkov agreements on the deployment of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea. This was reported on the website of the GBR.
As stated by the department, in 2010 Yezhel agreed on draft agreements without attending a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers at which they were discussed, and without conducting a mandatory legal examination of projects for compliance with the Constitution and laws of Ukraine.
Thus, the SBI said, Yezhel created the conditions “for the annexation of Crimea” in 2014. The former minister was announced on suspicion of committing high treason by prior conspiracy by a group of persons.
