A court in Moscow fined Novaya Gazeta under the article on abuse of freedom of mass information

The Simonovsky District Court of Moscow fined Novaya Gazeta 350 thousand rubles under the article on the dissemination of knowingly false information ( Part 9 of Article 13.15 of the Administrative Code ). This was reported by Kommersant with reference to the press service of the court.

What exactly was the reason for the fine is unknown. On July 6, Novaya Gazeta was fined 300 thousand rubles under the same article because of a video about the war in Ukraine.

On July 24, Roskomnadzor, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, restricted access to the website of the publication "NO" - a new project of the Novaya Gazeta team.

Journalists were also prohibited from calling the “Russian special operation” an attack, invasion, or declaration of war. Otherwise, the supervisory authority threatened with blocking and fines of up to five million rubles.
