The number of children's suicides increased in the Russian Federation by almost 40%

The number of Russian children who committed suicide has grown last year, compared to 2020, almost forty percent - from 548 to 753. Such numbers were called at the round table as an adviser to the apparatus of the Commissioner for the President of the Russian Federation Roman Chuprikov.

In turn, a senior researcher at the Suicidology Department of the Moscow Research Institute of Psychiatry Karine Kescheyan noted that the number of incomplete suicide attempts is much more. According to her, the "huge number of children" who have made suicidal attempts leave hospitals without falling into the field of view of specialists, since parents refuse consultations.

At the end of 2020, the Center for the Study and Network Monitoring of the Youth Environment reported that more than 600 thousand teenagers - Runet users enter requests on suicidal subjects.
