The court extended the arrest of seven defendants in the case of the telegram channel “What-to-Delat!”

The Basmanny District Court of Moscow extended the arrest of those involved in the case of the telegram channel “What-to-Delat!” Igor Kuznetsov, Vyacheslav Abramov, Dmitry Lamanov, Dmitry Chebanov, Igor Nagibin, Alexey Kurlov and Ildar Sadriev. All defendants' terms of stay in the pre-trial detention center were extended until September 14. They are accused under articles of involvement in mass riots (Part 1.1 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code) and of inciting hatred (Part 2 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code). Nikita Kreshchuk, Maria Platonova, Zhanna Chernova and Alexey Yanochkin are also involved in the case.

Platonova, a former designer at the headquarters of the Moscow Duma candidate Anastasia Bryukhanova, is under house arrest, everyone else is in custody.

The case of incitement to hatred was opened on July 29, 2022. The investigation believes that in the summer of 2021, Chebanov invited other defendants in the case to unite. Together they allegedly published in the community “What to do!” calls for mass unrest and “social discord, political hatred and hostility towards government officials.”

Author of the telegram channel “What to do!” Dmitry Chebanov and four other peoplewere detained on September 5, 2021, while trying to hang a banner on the building of the Central Children's Store. Subsequently, he and three other people were arrested for 15 days under the article of petty hooliganism (Part 1 of Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code).

On September 16, 2021, the Investigative Committee announced the initiation of a case under the article of mass unrest against Chebanov and “other persons.” According to investigators, the channel “What to do!” posted recordings with calls to go to protests “against the Putin regime.” The next day after information about the initiation of the case appeared, the court arrested Chebanov, Kurlov and Abramov. In the same month, Igor Nagibin was arrested, and Kuznetsov in November.

• In September 2021, a case under the article on calls for mass riots (Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code) was also brought against the author of the telegram channel “Protest Novosibirsk” Anton Fedotov, who was a subscriber to the channel “What to do!”

• In July 2022, another case was opened against Igor Nagibin - under the article on illegal possession of firearms or ammunition (Part 1 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code).

• Igor Kuznetsov is also accused of participation in an extremist community (Part 2 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code) in connection with the Left Resistance case against Daria Polyudova and her associates.
