A Kaliningrad resident was sentenced to a fine in the case of justifying terrorism because of a video on VKontakte.

The 2nd Western District Military Court sentenced Kaliningrad resident Pavel Pervadchuk to a fine of 420 thousand rubles, finding him guilty of calls for terrorism on the Internet (Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Criminal Code). Previously, the prosecutor demanded that Pervadchuk be sentenced to six years in prison because the man did not admit his guilt. However, the court took into account mitigating circumstances: the accused has a small son and elderly parents who spoke at the hearing.

According to investigators, a Kaliningrad resident posted a video “Colonel Shendakov: We will take power by force” on VKontakte in 2019. This became the reason for criminal prosecution.

The video contains recordings of speeches by retired army colonel and leftist activist Mikhail Shendakov for the admission of independent candidates to the Moscow City Duma and in support of the communist Pavel Grudinin, which took place in July 2019.
