A Muscovite, detained at the court with a poster “Freedom for Ilya Yashin!”, was fined 10 thousand rubles

In Moscow, the Preobrazhensky District Court fined Alexey Ushakov, who was previously detained with a poster “Freedom for Ilya Yashin!”, 10 thousand rubles. Ushakov himself told OVD-Info about this.

The man was found guilty of violating the rules of participation in the rally (Part 5 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). He was detained on August 8 near the building of the Moscow City Court, where an appeal hearing was taking place regarding the suppression of politician Ilya Yashin.

• Since July 13, Ilya Yashin has been in a pre-trial detention center for the case of “fake news” about the Russian army (clause “e”, part 2, article 207.3 of the Criminal Code). The reason for the criminal prosecution of the oppositionist was his YouTube streams in which he spoke about Bucha . On July 27, he was transferred to pre-trial detention center-7 “Kapotnya”.
• Article 207.3 (Public dissemination of knowingly false information about the use of the armed forces of the Russian Federation) was included in the Criminal Code in March 2022 - this is how the authorities responded to anti-war protests and the dissemination of information about the war. The maximum penalty under this article is 15 years in prison.
