From August 31, gas pumping by the Nord Stream will be stopped for three days. Gazprom explains this to the planning maintenance of the Trent 60 unit - the only one on the gas pipeline.

Gazprom has already stopped supplying gas by Northern Stream under the pretext of repair work from July 11 to 21.

The Russian gas concern promises that at the end of work it will restore gas pumping up to 33 million cubic meters per day, which is 20 percent of the design capacity of the Northern Stream.

After the announcement of Gazprom, about a three -day break in gas prices in Europe sharply jumped - up to $ 2700 per thousand cubic meters, Kommersant writes .

Gazprom delays the approval of customs documents for the return of Siemens with a gas turbine, which was repaired in Canada, which the Canadian authorities first detained due to sanctions, but then agreed to return at the request of Germany. On August 3, Moscow stated that the return of the unit is not possible due to the sanctions regimes of Canada, the EU, the UK and "the inconsistency of the existing situation by the current contract obligations by Siemens."

Moscow threatens to end the supply. According to the deputy head of the National Energy Security Fund Alexei Gryvach, even after the completion of the repair, the North Stream can stop at any time again if the last unit fails. Grivach said that the parties need to either “solve the problem with the maintenance of turbines” or certify the Nord Stream 2.

On the eve of the Vice Speaker of the German Parliament Wolfgang Cubes called on the country's authorities to launch the Nord Stream 2. In his opinion, this would allow to stabilize the economy and win the time to search for further ways to diversify supplies. “The gas embargo on our part would be currently irresponsible,” writes cubes. It is illogical to seek the withdrawal from the sanctions of the SP-1 turbine and at the same time to “keep closed” the new gas pipeline, the vice-peker said. "So far in Germany, the notorious light goes out in the houses, our ability to support Ukraine is decreasing," the article says.

On Monday, German Chancellor Olaf Sholts, along with Vice-Chancellor, Minister of Economics Robert Habek, arrived in Canada on a three-day visit. The parties intend to sign an agreement on closer cooperation in the field of hydrogen energy, discuss the supply of liquefied natural gas to Germany, and mining.
