Russian theologian and blogger Andrey Kuraev, suspended by the Russian Orthodox Church, said that he was fined on charges of “discrediting” the Russian army (Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) for a post in LiveJournal.
The judge of the Nikulinsky District Court of Moscow, Mikhail Maksimov, found the clergyman guilty and fined him 30,000 rubles.
Kuraev was fined on the denunciation of Sergei Chichin. The author of the denunciation accused Kuraev of "regularly conducting anti-Russian propaganda" and pointed the police to the protodeacon's post in April, entitled "This is a civil war, after all." In it, Kuraev referred to a publication by Meduza about the Russian military sending home stolen household appliances.
“Various lawyers are telling me in chorus that it is time to evacuate: the second trial threatens with a real prison term. Honestly, I don’t want to leave, ”Kuraev wrote after the court decision.
At the same time, he said that he deleted all his posts, written after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, “in order to make it difficult for future informers to do their noble work.”
