Former editors of the Russian-language Internet encyclopedia "Wikipedia" created "Runiversalis" - the domestic analogue of "Wikipedia".
The encyclopedia looks like Wikipedia. In the article about "Runiversalis" on "Wikipedia" it is said that "the resource is developed on the wiki engine and uses the resources of the foundation "Wikimedia" " (already after writing this note the article was removed from "Wikipedia").
The authors of the new encyclopedia announced the creation of "Runiversalis" on August 18, although the first edits to it, according to open data, were made as early as June 9. The media paid attention to the project when on August 23 in telegram channels, including the deputy of the State Duma Anton Gorelkin , appeared messages about the Russian Internet encyclopedia.
The manifesto of "Runiversalis" said that the project's servers are located in Russia, and the pages are edited "in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of the Russian Federation and with respect for traditional values.
There is no article about the war in Ukraine in Runiversalis, such a phrase does not appear on the pages of the encyclopedia. In the article "Special military operation of Russia in Ukraine" the position of the Ukrainian authorities is practically not presented.
A representative of Wikimedia told TJ that the new project has not been discussed within the community, and if it involves any former Wikipedia editors, it is most likely "someone from the indefinitely blocked.
Update. Already after writing this note, the Runiversalis website stopped opening.
