Petersburg: The court terminated the case against the foreman after the death of the worker

The court in St. Petersburg terminated the criminal case on violation of security rules during construction against the foreman Dmitry Volkov, under which the worker Matvey Kucherov died during the demolition of the SCC. This was reported by the press service of the city courts.

Volkova was accused of not providing Kucherov by means of protection, did not fenced the dangerous sections of the building and did not control the work of his subordinate. Because of this, the court believes, Kucherov fell from the fifth floor during the cleaning of the territory.

The case was terminated after the reconciliation of the parties - the victim (who exactly, is not specified) filed an appropriate petition, as Volkov compensated for the damage.

• The collapse of the building of the sports and concert complex (SCC) occurred at the end of January 2020. On the first day of work, a roof fell, which damaged 80% of the building. One worker died- 29-year-old resident of Karelia Matvey Kucherov .
• The defendants in the case of the death of the worker were the head of the contractor-contractor Techsnab LLC Sergey Akimenko and "Work Manufacturers" Nikolai Ivanov and Dmitry Smirnov. Everyone received two years conditionally with a trial period of two years.
• Relatives of Matvey Kucherov demanded to recover from each of the three accused of 6 million rubles of compensation, but the court satisfied the compensation of 900 thousand rubles from each accused.
• Despite the tragedy of the authorities of St. Petersburg, they refused to terminate the concession agreement with SKA Arena. The destruction of the complex, according to officials, is an “insufficient base” for early termination of the contract with the investor.
