Over the past year, European governments have allocated billions of dollars to mitigate the consequences of the energy crisis. But this does not solve the problem: electricity prices beat records, and the cost of gas exceeded $ 3200 per thousand cubic meters. In the near future, EU Energy Ministers may gather an emergency meeting to discuss further measures. Experts urge to focus not on helping business and households, but on reducing energy consumption.
EU Energy Ministers can gather an emergency meeting to discuss a sharp jump in electricity prices, writes Bloomberg. Such a proposal is the Czech Republic, which from July for six months has become the chairman of the EU Council. At the same time, as the Minister of Industry of the Czech Republic said, Prague will insist on discussing the ceiling of energy prices.
The representative of the French government said that Paris as a whole supports the idea of the EU unified policy to combat energy crisis, but not necessarily approve the idea of price restrictions. He added that in France the situation with inflation differs from other countries for the better.
In total, European countries over the past year spent about 280 billion euros ($ 278 billion) on mitigating the consequences of the energy crisis for enterprises and households, calculated in the Bruegel analytical center. The calculations include all the state expenses allocated for these purposes, ranging from subsidies for small businesses in Greece and ending with direct payments to consumers in Belgium.
Most of the funds to support the population in the conditions of energy criticism were allocated by Germany (60.2 billion euros), Italy (49.5 billion), France (44.7 billion), Great Britain (44.3 billion) and Spain (27.3 billion).
Energy resources will be high throughout the winter, and European countries should be ready for the worst scenario in which prices will remain at such levels and further, the Bruegel analyst noted. In his opinion, governments need to focus on ways to reduce the demand for electricity in those sectors where it is possible.
Energy carriers in Europe jumped more than 10 times compared to the average seasonal value over the past five years amid a decrease in Russian gas supplies. France President Emmanuel Macron yesterday called the current situation with the energy of the turning point and the end of abundance. “Our freedom, the freedom system in which we are accustomed to live has its own price,” said Macron. “And sometimes, when we need to protect her, this can lead to victims.”
The IMF fears that the current EU policy aimed at subsidizing high tariffs for electricity, as well as price control, will not help reduce prices. Instead of allocating huge funds to mitigate the consequences of energy criticism, the IMF calls on to focus on measures to save electricity: if the demand for it is lower, then prices will decrease.
What am I from this
Europe is fighting the worst energy crisis over the past decades. Today, the exchange price of gas in Europe exceeded $ 3200 per thousand cubic meters. The leap is caused by the fact that Gazprom will completely stop the pumping on the Northern Stream for three days next week. The increase in gas prices and electricity accelerates the most high inflation in the eurozone in decades, increases the risks of recession and global economic crisis.

"Krasnopolyanskaya cosmetics" was lost by the court
The court satisfied the lawsuit of the Prosecutor General’s Office against the co -founder of the Russian brand “Krasnopolyanskaya Cosmetics” Dmitry Serov, writes Forbes. By a court decision, the company is obliged to free the lands, where it grows plants and shrubs for its products within 30 days. The Prosecutor General’s Office claims that Krasnopolyanskaya Cosmetics use the site for other purposes. Serov does not agree with the accusation: he said, the company grows on the territory of shrubs, trees, there is an apiary, a birdhouse and a street farm. All plant extract obtained on these lands is used in production. The entrepreneur calls what is happening a mistake: the Prosecutor General’s Office in the fight against unscrupulous tenants using the plots for other purposes, accidentally included in this list and “Krasnopolyanskaya cosmetics,” he believes. True, according to Serov, other honest farmers, for example, the Adler Tea company, also fell under the “cleansing”.
Abyzov shares will move to the state at prices below market
The ex-Minister for Open Government Mikhail Abyzov failed to pay off 32.5 billion rubles recovered from him under the lawsuit of the Prosecutor General’s Office. According to Kommersant, the court removed the arrest from the shares belonging to the former minister. Abyzov himself achieved this in order to voluntarily extinguish the amount collected from him in the claim. The assets from which the arrest was removed at the market price was estimated at almost 40 billion rubles, and the state set them off at a nominal value of 10 billion. Thus, Abyzov should remain more than 20 billion rubles, for the payment of which he will probably have to part with other property.
