The authorities of Miami (Florida) launched a program to buy weapons from the residents of the city for subsequent transfer to Ukraine. The organizers of the project are the Miami Police Department.
One of the goals pursued by the initiators of the program is to reduce the number of weapons in free possession on the streets of the city. Under the terms, a Miami resident will receive a $50 gift certificate for turning in a firearm. For a gun or shotgun - $ 100, for weapons with a caliber of 223, 5.56 × 45 and 7.62 mm - $ 150.
The program does not apply to home-made, airsoft and pneumatic weapons, however, such samples "can be handed over for the safety of everyone," the announcement states.
