An inspector from the Federal Penitentiary Service came to Roizman after a run; the department explained this as a malfunction of the bracelet.

Former editor-in-chief of Echo of Moscow Alexei Venediktov said that an inspector from the Federal Penitentiary Service came to oppositionist Yevgeny Roizman on the morning of August 28 and demanded that he write an explanatory note “why he was running outside Yekaterinburg yesterday.”

Venediktov the day before came to visit Roizman, against whom a criminal case was opened at the end of August for “discrediting” the army. As a preventive measure, the politician was prohibited from attending public events, using any means of communication and receiving correspondence.

The local department of the Federal Penitentiary Service told RIA Novosti that the inspector’s visit was due to a malfunction of the electronic bracelet. “There were no violations on his part, there were issues related to the operation of the installed technical device,” said the agency’s interlocutor. “It was not clear where he was, and the inspectors clarified it. He gave explanations and there are no more questions.” According to a representative of the Federal Penitentiary Service, “the equipment showed that [Roizman] was outside of Yekaterinburg,” however, he noted, this is not prohibited and he can travel throughout Russia.
