An environmental activist in Kuzbass had his car tire punctured. Previously, he and his associates were threatened

Eco-activist and lawyer Maxim Andrianov on August 23 in Myski (Kemerovo region) had a tire punctured on his car. He himself told OVD-Info about this. Andrianov suggests that this may be due to his social activities.

Unidentified persons punctured the tire when the car was parked near the building of the Myskovsky city court. At the same time, the court staff told Andrianov that their surveillance cameras were not working.

The activist was able to get video footage from cameras located in a neighboring building and saw that two men were involved in damaging the tire: one was inflicting a cut, the other was monitoring the situation.

The police have not yet filed a case and have not officially begun to seize the available videos.

The damage to Andrianov's car was preceded by threats against him. On August 11, the activist received a call from a man who introduced himself as Arthur and said: “Many people don’t like your work.” He advised "to stop playing the violin" (Andrianov plays in the orchestra at the Raspadsky Palace of Culture in Mezhdurechensk).

Arthur also offered to meet. When Andrianov refused, he said: "Then I'll take care of you." The phone number, as the activist found out, belongs to Artur Zhumataev: on Zhumataev’s VKontakte page there is a photo of him with a “thieves’ cross” tattooed on his body – perhaps he belongs to a criminal subculture.

On the same day, an unknown person called with threats the husband of an activist who, together with Andrianov, is fighting against the construction of the Krapivinskaya hydroelectric power station on the Tom River, and is also protesting against the discharge of waste into the river by a local pig farm. The caller threatened that the woman's house would be burned down, "if she blathers at least something else."

In February, both Andrianov and his associate were stopped by the traffic police on their way to hearings on the construction of the Krapivinskaya hydroelectric power station. The activists were forced to undergo a medical examination without being given the opportunity to attend hearings.

A woman who starred in Andrianov’s video also received threats at the end of August: in it, residents of the village of Verkhny Podobas say that they were offered a car of free coal so that they would not protest against the construction of a road to the Kuznetsky Yuzhny coal mine, but they refused this offer. The video participant was told on the phone: “If you want to live in peace in the village, don’t stick your head out anymore.”

Earlier, says Andrianov, he covered the problem of building this road through a forested area. Residents of the village of Berenzas put up tents on July 8 in protest and collected signatures against the road.

Andrianov also admits that the threats to him personally may be related to his private legal practice, as he represents the interests of a person injured in an accident, the alleged culprit of which is a former police officer.
