“Layout”: A contract soldier who fought in Ukraine, together with his acquaintances, attacked a Ukrainian refugee camp

On the night of August 5-6, Lieutenant Mikhail Gorelov, who fought in Ukraine, his former classmates Nikita Gordeev and Roman Kovalev, as well as fellow villager Grigory Umalatov, broke into the territory of the Goloevka boarding house in the Smolensk region, where Ukrainian refugees live.

According to the publication, on September 5, Umalatov met with his acquaintances at a local bar. He complained to them that in Goloevka, where his mother worked as a cook, Ukrainian refugees “offend our people” and treat the staff badly. After that, the men took a hunting rifle and an air pistol, and then drove to the boarding house. The refugees said that the drunken attackers walked around the first floor of the building, shouting loudly and knocking on the doors of the rooms. They left as soon as they learned that only refugees from Luhansk, Donetsk and Kharkiv regions live in Goloevka. How the men got into the territory is unknown.

Against Gorelov, Gordeev, Kovalev and Umalatov, a criminal case was opened on hooliganism (Article 213 of the Criminal Code).

Local authorities refused to answer journalists' questions. Gorelov confirmed to Nestka that he came to the sanatorium, but said that everything else was a "wild lie." He did not tell what exactly he did in Goloevka. Gorelov also said that he did not undergo psychological support, which is carried out for those who returned from the war.

“The rehabilitation period is scheduled with a visit to a psychologist. But I wasn't on it. I don't know how it happened, but the moment passed me by. War is war. I am not proud of the fact that I killed people, ”Gorelov told reporters.

According to the publication, the man serves in the army under a contract. Now he has returned home on vacation, but, according to his fellow villagers, “he does not seek to return to the front and is not very upset at the prospect of receiving a criminal punishment that would prevent this.”
