The ECHR awarded 7500 euros of the Murmansk woman, fined due to the picket in support of Pussy Riot in 2012

The European Court of Human Rights appointed a resident of Murmansk Nayle Ibragimova, fined due to a picket in support of Pussy Riot in 2012, compensation for 7500 thousand euros. This was written by human rights activist Ernest Mesak, who was a representative of the activist in the ECHR.

Russia violated the right of Ibragimova to freedom of expression, guaranteed by Article 10 of the Convention on Human Rights, decided by the ECHR. According to the decision, the girl should also pay 242 euros compensation for the paid fine.

Mesak intends to seek compensation with Russia, despite the state’s refusal to execute the decision of the ECHR, which entered into force after March 15, 2022.

Nylya Ibragimova held a single picket in Murmansk on August 17, 2012, on the day of the sentence, Pussy Riot participants in the case of “punk-ground” in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. On this day, she was not delayed, but later, on September 30, 2012, the police drew up a protocol on her under an article on violation of the rules of the action (Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses) due to the fact that Ibragimova held a promotion in Balaclava. Later, the court fined the girl for 10 thousand rubles.

• At the end of February 2012, in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, five members of the Pussy Riot group arranged a “punk-mayoben”-they jumped up on the amvon in bright balaclavs, danced, depicted prayer worships and shouted fragments of their own song “Theotokos, Putin of the drive!”. After that, the video of the performance was posted on the Internet. The police arrested three participants in the action - Nadezhda Tolokonnikov, Maria Alekhina and Ekaterina Samutsevich. On August 17, 2012, the members of the group found guilty in hooliganism based on religious hatred (part 2 of article 213 of the Criminal Code) and sentenced to two years in a general regime colony. In the appeal, Samutsevich replaced the real term with a conditional one.
