The Supreme Court of Belarus recognized the association of former security officials BYPOL as a terrorist organization

The Supreme Court of Belarus has recognized the BYPOL initiative, an association of former security officials who quit law enforcement after the 2020 protests, as a terrorist organization. This is reported by the Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus.

The ministry’s statement says that the community “incited citizens to extremist activities to change the constitutional order illegally,” for this, work was carried out to train the manufacture of explosives and weapons and the tactics of providing forceful resistance to employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as planning actions.

As a result of the organization's activities, "various crimes of an extremist nature, including acts of terrorism, have been committed on the territory of the country," the Prosecutor General's Office said.

In April 2021, a court in Belarus recognized the BYPOL telegram channel as extremist in the country. In March, the creators of the project became defendants in the case of inciting hatred or discord committed by a group of persons (part 3 of article 130 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).
