“John Sullivan completed his work as US envoy and left Moscow today. After his departure, John Sullivan will complete a forty-year career in public service, during which he worked under five US presidents,” the diplomatic mission noted.

Until the arrival of the new ambassador, Elizabeth Rood, Deputy Chief of Mission of the United States in Russia, will serve as Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Moscow.

TASS, citing a diplomatic source , writes that Sullivan’s departure is not related to a decrease in the level of US diplomatic representation. According to the agency’s interlocutor, the ambassador’s rotation was prepared in advance.
