A court in Belarus sentenced Zenkovich, Kostusev and Feduta, accused in the case of conspiracy to seize power, to up to 11 years in prison.

The Minsk Regional Court sentenced lawyer Yury Zenkovich, political scientist Alexander Feduta and leader of the Belarusian Popular Front party (BPF) Grigory Kostusev to terms of up to 11 years in prison in the case of conspiracy to seize power by unconstitutional means (part 1 of article 357 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus ). The court sentenced Zenkovich to 11 years in a high-security colony, Feduta and Kostusev to 10 years in a high-security colony. ️ In addition to trying to seize power, Zenkevich is accused of creating an extremist formation (part 1 of article 361-1 of the Criminal Code), calls for the seizure of power (part 3 of article 361 of the Criminal Code) and inciting hatred and discord (part 3 of article 130 of the Criminal Code ), notes Mediazona Belarus. The court also sentenced Olga Golubovich and Denis Kravchuk. They were sentenced to 2.5 years in prison in the case of gross violation of order (part 1 of article 342 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus).

In April 2021, Alexander Lukashenko said that Zenkovich, Kostusev and Feduta were preparing an "assassination attempt" on him and his children. He claimed that "more likely the CIA and the FBI" prepared a cellar in the Gomel region for the kidnapping.

Zenkovich and Feduta were then detained in Moscow and taken to Belarus. The KGB brought charges against them, and the Belarusian state TV channel ONT showed edited footage of their "confession" of guilt in plotting the assassination.
