Report of the Life as a Miracle Foundation for the first quarter of 2022

The Life as a Miracle Foundation helps adults and children with severe liver diseases from low-income families. It pays for rehabilitation, vital medications, examinations, tests, as well as accommodation while waiting for treatment and travel expenses necessary for it.

In the first quarter of 2022 , 97 people from all regions of the Russian Federation were able to receive help in the treatment of severe liver diseases under the “Help to the Family”, “Help to Adults” and “Help to the Hospital” programs. As part of these programs, the Foundation provides wards with severe liver diseases with medical services that are not included in the compulsory health insurance policy.

One of the wards who became a participant in the Family Help program in the first quarter of 2022 was Abdullah, one of six children in a low-income family from Ingushetia. At two years old, he was diagnosed with tyrosinemia type 1B, a rare genetic disease that leads to liver failure and cirrhosis. In the spring of 2021, he underwent a liver transplant, after which Abdullah began to experience complications. While the boy is waiting for a second transplant on the waiting list for an unrelated organ, he must live within walking distance of a hospital in Moscow. This is necessary so that if a suitable organ is found, it can be on the operating table within 2-3 hours. The fund helps the family pay for the accommodation of Abdullah and his mother in the House of Medical Workers at the clinic.

As part of the School of Liver Diseases project , this quarter the Foundation was able to pay for 4 portable devices for measuring ammonia levels in the blood for medical centers in Chita, Samara, Saransk and Penza. The Foundation considers it important to equip hospitals with such devices: the introduction of ammonia determination into everyday practice helps to reduce the level of mortality and disability in children with severe liver diseases.

In the first quarter of 2022, we managed to collect 96,515 rubles for the work of the Foundation . Most of them are small monthly donations . Such donations help the Foundation plan its work months in advance. Once a month they are debited from your bank card.
