The most interesting innovation is the satellite SOS-improving (Emergency SOS), which works even if there is no Wi-Fi and does not catch cellular connection. The iPhone will be able to connect to satellite frequencies and, according to Apple, in less than 15 seconds (in a clear sky), send an emergency service for help. In the USA and Canada, the function will appear in November and will be free for the next two years. How much will it cost later and in which countries it will still appear is still unknown.

Now it is clear why the presentation is called Far out (“out of reach”), and in the announcement of Apple used an illustration with the starry sky.

The camera in basic iPhones has become a little better: still 12 megapixels, but with a more “lighter” F/1.5 lens on the main chamber. According to Apple, the camera shows itself especially well in the conditions of insufficient lighting - in such situations, the light, according to the company, is better captured by 49%. To take a cool picture in the dark is also designed to help the Photonic Engine neural network - the algorithm also works with the front camera. By the way, autofocus first appeared in a selfie camera.

And the new Action Mode technology is needed to stabilize the video in extreme conditions, for example, when a tripod would be preferable, but it is not at hand.

A large event - in the upper part of the screen, the “senior” iPhones no longer have a “bangs” that caused fierce disputes from the appearance of the iPhone X. But a small neckline remained - and it was turned into a full part of the phone interface. Apple calls it a “dynamic island” and shows different service information on it. So you can follow, for example, in incoming calls, identification using Face ID, as well as alarm clocks and timers.

In the "senior" iPhones - the new A16 processor, which is also necessary for high performance, updated camera and display. For convenience when using screens (sizes are the same - 6.1 and 6.7 inches) is an intelligent adjustment of the brightness and frequency of updates.

Always-on Display, which operates in Apple Watch, starting with SERIES 5, appeared in iPhones. Even if you block the screen, the display will not go out to the end: it will become much dull, but will continue to show useful information. In iOS 16, which will be released in the fall, there are even wallpaper, thanks to which the battery charge in “sleeping mode” lasts even longer.

In Pro and Pro Max, for the first time in the history of iPhones, a camera with a 48-megapixel sensor appeared! True, most often the phone will take photos on 12 megapixels, but will be able to issue images in full resolution - in ProraW mode, designed for professional shooting.
