The court approved the arrest of Crimean nurse Irina Danilovich, accused in the explosives case

The Supreme Court of Crimea approved the extension of the arrest of nurse and activist Irina Danilovich, accused of possession of explosives, until February 2023. The Crimean Process reports this.

Danilovich is charged with the illegal manufacture and storage of explosives (Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code). According to the FSB, the activist kept 200 grams of explosives in the lining of her glasses case. The defendant and her defense claim that the explosives were planted on her.

In August, the woman was finally charged , and the case materials were transferred for consideration to the Feodosia City Court. On August 22, during a preliminary hearing, the court granted the prosecutor’s request to extend the pre-trial detention center until February 2, 2023.

Danilovich was detained in April. For a long time, her relatives did not know where she was. It later turned out that the woman was held in the basement of the FSB building for about eight days, and then placed in a pre-trial detention center.

At the end of July, Danilovich spoke about pressure and physical violence from FSB officers.

• Irina Danilovich is a Crimean activist who worked as a nurse in one of the boarding houses in Koktebel. She collaborated with the publication “INzhir Media” and the human rights project “Crimean Process”, defended the interests of health workers on the peninsula and wrote a lot about violations of their rights, for example, about underpayments for working with Covid patients.
• On June 3, the Ministry of Justice added Danilovich to the register of media “foreign agents”.
