In 2019, the Yakut shaman Gabyshev proclaimed himself a “shaman-warrior” and announced a march on Moscow on foot: he called Russian President Vladimir Putin an “evil spirit” and set himself the goal of “driving him out.” Gabyshev was able to reach Buryatia, where he was detained . The shaman's supporters staged a rally, and clashes between protesters and security forces began.

In February 2021, a case was opened against shaman Gabyshev for using violence against a police officer due to the injury of a law enforcement officer: at the end of January, security forces and a mental health worker came to him to take him to a medical facility. In early February, the court granted the claim of the psychoneurological dispensary for the forced hospitalization of Gabyshev.

Since October 2021, Gabyshev has been under compulsory treatment in a specialized hospital, and on August 1, the Ussuriysky District Court extended the order. In the summer of 2022, the medical commission decided to transfer the “shaman” to a general hospital, but only half a month later they announced a deterioration in his condition.
