Balakliya is “essentially not controlled” by Russian troops, now fighting is taking place on the outskirts of the city. This, according to RBC, was stated by the head of the occupation administration of the Kharkiv region Vitaly Ganchev.
“The humanitarian situation is difficult [in Balakliya]... fierce fighting is going on there. Balakleya, in fact, is not controlled by us. Attempts are being made to drive out the Ukrainian forces there, but there are fierce battles and our troops are being held back on the outskirts,” Ganchev said.
The day before, there were reports about the entry of units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine into the occupied Balakliya. Representatives of the Ministry of Defense did not comment on these messages, and pro-Russian telegram channels and publics claimed that the battles for the city continued and the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to achieve only local successes.
Later, videos appeared on the network in which the Ukrainian military removed the Russian flag and hoisted the Ukrainian flag over the Balakleya city administration building. One of these videos was published by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
