Simplified visa mode for Russians will be stopped from 12.09
On Friday, September 9, the European Union Council made the final decision to suspend the agreement on simplifying the visa regime with Russia. This was reported on the website of the EU Council.
The decision will enter into force on the day of its adoption and will be applied from September 12, 2022, the representative of the EU Council said.
The report on the suspension provides a quote from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Vita Rakushan, who explains the application of such measures.
- The agreement on simplifying the visa regime provides privileged access to the EU for citizens [countries -] reliable partners with whom we share common values. For its unprovided and unjustified aggressive war, including indiscriminate attacks on the civilian population, Russia undermined this trust and trampled the fundamental values of our international community. Today's decision is a direct consequence of Russia's actions and another proof of our unshakable commitment to Ukraine and its people.
