Ukraine expects to receive $ 300 billion from Russia

Ukraine intends to receive from Russia at least $ 300 billion for the war for war, said the Minister of Justice of the country Denis Malyuska. Ukraine expects that at a special session of the UN General Assembly, a resolution will be adopted in October, which provides for the possibility of confiscating Russian assets. The amount of $ 300 billion, Kyiv believes, corresponds to the assets of the Bank of Russia in the G7 countries frozen in the framework of sanctions. The Ministry of Justice of Ukraine requires access to these means, as well as to foreign assets of Russian state -owned enterprises and the confiscated property of Russian oligarchs.

“We want to receive compensation for all the damage that Russia caused to Ukraine with its aggressive war,” said Denis Malyuska.

Earlier, the Minister of Justice of Ukraine said that there are two options for obtaining compensation from Russia. The first - classic - the requirement of reparations from Russia after it loses the war. But this is a “long -term instrument” and, in addition, Ukraine still needs to win. The second option is the confiscation of Russian assets located in Western countries, primarily gold and foreign exchange reserves.

This amount is an assessment of direct physical damage calculated by the Government of Ukraine along with experts of the World Bank.

Since the beginning of the military invasion of Russia in Ukraine, 15.3 thousand high -rise buildings, almost 116 thousand private houses, 188 thousand private cars and more than 11 thousand units of public transport have been damaged or captured. In addition, 412 industrial enterprises were injured. KSE calculated that almost $ 200 billion is needed to restore the destroyed infrastructure.

At the end of August, the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine introduced a register of damaged and destroyed property. It will store information about residential buildings and other structures destroyed during the Russian invasion. Ukrainians have already submitted 256 thousand reports of damaged property.

In July, President Vladimir Zelensky presented a national plan for the restoration of the country. It is estimated at $ 750 billion and is designed for 10 years. They want to restore the country, in particular, at the expense of the arrested assets of the Russian Federation, Denis Shmygal said.
