The Russian Defense Ministry claims that four thousand Ukrainian soldiers have died in five days of counteroffensive

The Russian Defense Ministry stated that from September 6 to 10, more than four thousand Ukrainian soldiers were killed and more than eight thousand people were wounded during the Ukrainian Armed Forces offensive in the Kharkov and Kherson regions.

“In total, in these two directions alone, from September 6 to 10, the Kiev regime’s losses amounted to over four thousand killed and over eight thousand wounded,” said Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov on Sunday.

During a war, it is impossible to quickly verify information that is disseminated even by official representatives of the parties to the conflict.

• On August 29, the Ukrainian army announced that it had launched a counteroffensive in the occupied Kherson region. That same day, the Russian Defense Ministry said that it had failed miserably. In early September, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched an offensive in the Kharkiv region and liberated more than 30 towns and villages that had been occupied since the spring. Russian units in the Kharkiv region retreated.
