Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk: Russian teachers detained in Ukrainian territories liberated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine face up to 12 years in prison

Russian teachers who came to teach in Ukrainian schools and were detained during the Ukrainian military offensive will be tried under a criminal article on violating the laws and customs of war. This was stated to the publication "Strana.ua" by the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk.

"They (teachers from the Russian Federation) committed a crime against our state. We have warned Russian citizens many times who agreed to come to Ukrainian territory and carry out activities prohibited by law here," Vereshchuk said.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted that Russian teachers will not be considered as prisoners for exchange, since they are not considered direct participants in the hostilities.

In turn, Ukrainian teachers who agreed to teach according to the Russian curriculum will be held accountable for collaborationist activity , Vereshchuk said. She called on teachers in the occupied territories to evacuate and not to cooperate with the Russian military.
