After midnight on September 13, the Armenian Ministry of Defense reported that Azerbaijan had shelled the country's territories near the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh. The attack was carried out from drones, artillery and large-caliber guns in three directions - against Armenian positions near Goris, Sotk and Jermuk.
The Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan accused Yerevan of sabotage in the Dashkesan, Kalbajar and Lachin directions of the common border. According to Baku, the battle started because of the sabotage groups of the Armenian armed forces, who mined the supply routes between the positions of the Azerbaijani army in different directions.
The Azerbaijani military department reported losses among the personnel of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.
Pro-Armenian telegram channels reported damage to residential buildings in Sotk and Kut.
On the morning of September 13, the Armenian government asked for help from Russia, the member countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the UN Security Council because of the fighting.
Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed on a ceasefire. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the death of 49 Armenian soldiers in battles on the border with Azerbaijan.
The last time an escalation between Armenia and Azerbaijan occurred at the end of August, when the Azerbaijani army occupied the city of Lachin, the villages of Sus and Zabukh in Nagorno-Karabakh.
