The governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin, opposed the proposal of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, on the "self-mobilization" of the regions. At the same time, Nikitin said that the region had already formed a battalion of volunteers who would go to war in Ukraine.
“In matters of defense and security, we will adhere to the need to fulfill the orders of the military leadership,” the official said.
Earlier, Governor of Kursk Region Roman Starovoit, Governor of Kemerovo Region Sergey Tsivilev, Head of Crimea Sergey Aksenov, Governor of Voronezh Alexander Gusev and Governor of Magadan Region Sergey Nosov publicly supported Kadyrov's proposal to train at least a thousand volunteers in each region without waiting for martial law.
