A journalist, sitting in a pre-trial detention center for an article about “fake stories” about the army, opened her veins

RusNews journalist Maria Ponomarenko, who was arrested in the case of "fakes" about the Russian army, opened her veins due to a deterioration in her mental state. The journalist was rescued.

On September 16, during an appeal to extend her arrest, Ponomarenko said that she had been diagnosed with hysterical personality disorder. According to the journalist, she does not receive the necessary assistance in the pre-trial detention center. Ponomarenko added that she had been in a cell with sealed windows for at least two months, although she was claustrophobic. The journalist also said that her two underage daughters are hard to endure separation, and the girls' father puts pressure on them.

“I consider the conditions of detention behind sealed windows to be torture. I pose no danger to society. The only person I can harm in a state of hysteria and depression is myself , ” said the woman in court.

In early September, she broke one of the windows, because of which she was sent to a punishment cell for a week. The journalist's lawyer, Dmitry Shitov, insisted that Ponomarenko be placed under house arrest. The court left her in jail.

The journalist was arrested at the end of April under an article about the spread of “fake news” about the Russian army because of a post on social networks about the shelling of the drama theater in Mariupol.
