The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade has proposed adding alcohol to the list for parallel imports. The corresponding draft order is published on the portal of regulatory legal acts.
Among the brands that are proposed to be included in the list of parallel imports are Veuve Clicquot champagne; vermouth Martini and Cinzano; whiskey Jack Daniel's, Jim Beam, Hennessy, Johhnie Walker, Chivas; Captain Morgan rum, Havana Club and Olmeca tequila.
In mid-August, Kommersant wrote that retailers had asked the Russian authorities to allow parallel imports of alcohol. The appeal to the government of the Russian Federation said that alcohol distributors are forced to work on leftovers, "their assortment is being actively reduced, but there are no new deliveries."
On June 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law allowing the import of a number of goods into Russia without the permission of the copyright holder (parallel imports) during 2022.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade included smartphones and equipment under the brands Apple, Asus, HP, Panasonic, Samsung, cars and materials for them under the brands Tesla, Land Rover, Jeep, Jaguar, as well as a number of other goods into the list of goods for parallel import.
