United Russia proposes to give academic leave to students who are fighting in Ukraine

United Russia proposed to guarantee academic leave for Russian students who go to fight in Ukraine. The party sent such letters to the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Education.

According to the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Youth Policy Artem Metelev, the issuance of academic leave to military students has been suspended since the spring of 2022, which, according to Metelev, limits their right to receive education in absentia.

“Students who are to undergo state final certification are also taking part in the special military operation. <...> We need to provide them with a guarantee of education and create an opportunity to pass exams when they return home. Now the fighters are defending the interests of the Motherland, but soon they will return, and many will choose peaceful work and study, ”said the deputy.
