Petersburg: The authorities will not spend budget money on Mariupol

Money from the budget of St. Petersburg will not be allocated for "the restoration of Mariupol and humanitarian aid to its inhabitants." This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister of St. Petersburg Nikolai Linchenko in response to a request from the deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the city of Boris Vishnevsky.

Mariupol was surrounded by Russian troops in early March 2022. During the war, he was actually destroyed by Russian troops. Many local residents left the city, however, according to estimates, tens of thousands of residents continue to remain in it, despite the lack of centralized water supply, communications, and in many areas and electricity. There is no independent information about the number of the dead, but both parties admit that it is calculated by thousands. The Russian authorities officially consider Mariupol part of the self -proclaimed Republic of the "DPR".

On May 24, 2022, the governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov announced that Mariupol and St. Petersburg would become twin cities, on June 1, the documents have already been signed. The authorities of St. Petersburg pledged to help with the restoration of the city, in particular - the Oktyabrsky district of Mariupol. Later it became known that a special Victory Foundation will be restored, where both budget funds and donations from residents and businessmen will be poured.

Governor Alexander Beglov reported that by the beginning of September in Mariupol it is planned to pass 3 schools and 3 kindergartens restored after shelling. 29 socially significant objects will be repaired, including 3 kindergartens, 3 schools, 2 clinics-children and adults, the oncological corps, the corps of children's surgery and residential buildings. They plan to finish the repair of residential buildings by the beginning of the heating season of 2022-2023, health facilities - by the beginning of the next spring.

The Polygon publication published an investigation that claimed that the structures of the St. Petersburg businessman Ivan Orynchuk, a 52 -year -old native of the Ukrainian village of Rostoki, would be restored by Mariupol. One of its structures - "Petersburg Renaissance" - is engaged in the restoration of cultural heritage objects. The organization has repeatedly received large state orders, including claiming the restoration of the Kremlin towers in Moscow (the contract was torn in 2019 after a scandal with a bribe that Orynchuk gave an FSO officer "for help in the unhindered signing of acts of work performed").
