The former head of Navalny's Ufa headquarters, Liliya Chanysheva, has had the charges increased, reports FBK director Ivan Zhdanov.
According to information from Navalny’s ally, Chanysheva was finally charged with calls for extremism (Part 1, Article 280 of the Criminal Code), activities of an extremist community using her official position (Part 3, Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code), and the creation of an organization that violates the rights of citizens (Part 3, Article 239 of the Criminal Code). In total, the Ufa woman faces up to 18 years in prison.
“They want to hold the trial in Bashkiria, where the local king Khabirov rules, who hates Lilia. Local FSB officers already threatened that they would give us 15. As soon as we were recognized as extremists, Liliya remained in Russia and had no connection with us,” Zhdanov wrote.
Liliya Chanysheva was sent to a pre-trial detention center after searches in November last year. Then she was charged in the case of an “extremist community” (Part 1 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code). In July, the arrest was extended until October 9.
In January, Rosfinmonitoring added the activist to the register of terrorists and extremists. At the end of last year, the main investigative department of the Investigative Committee removed Chanysheva’s lawyer Vladimir Voronin from the case, and employees of the Moscow women’s pre-trial detention center-6 did not allow new defenders to see her.
