The Moscow government plans “in the near future” to open a military registration and enlistment office for foreign citizens in the Sakharovo migration center. this The mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, announced on his website.

“In the very near future, the Moscow Government will deploy a full-fledged infrastructure in Sakharovo to assist the Russian Ministry of Defense in organizing the entry into military service of foreign citizens,” the city mayor specified.

He explained this decision by the bill adopted by the State Duma on the simplified issuance of Russian citizenship to foreigners who have entered into an annual contract for military service. According to Sobyanin, in this way citizens of other countries will be able to obtain Russian documents “without long waits and other bureaucratic obstacles.”

Earlier today, State Duma deputies in the second and third readings adopted a bill that suggests that foreigners will be issued Russian citizenship without a residence permit. To do this, it is enough to conclude a military contract for a year. Now the rule applies to citizens of other countries with military contracts of three years or more.

Back in May, Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing all adult foreigners to sign a contract for military service in Russia. Before this, the age limit was 30 years.
